The Inspiration Behind “Beyond Burnout”
My inspiration for creating the “Beyond Burnout” coaching program began with my own journey through burnout. While working in high-performing consultant roles, I was deeply focused on understanding human behavior and trying to fit in. This focus led me to navigate the tricky landscapes of the career world, where I battled imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and extreme exhaustion. These experiences knocked me off my feet, leaving me utterly exhausted with nowhere to turn.
Through these challenges, I felt a strong calling to help others who might be going through similar struggles. As I navigated and recovered from my own burnout, I acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience. This journey empowered me to leverage my insights to support you.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel worthy, competent, and have the space to thrive in their professional lives. That’s why I created “Beyond Burnout” – to help you move forward and improve your life and work experiences.
My Background and Qualifications
Before becoming an ADHD and autism life coach, I spent eight years as a Talent Development Consultant, specializing in leadership development, change management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Recently, I worked as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist, designing programs to promote understanding and inclusivity for neurodivergent employees. This role gave me invaluable insights into the unique challenges you face in the workplace.
In addition to coaching, I design programs, create content, and facilitate life design sessions. This diverse background allows me to offer personalized support and practical strategies to help you manage stress and improve your daily life. My passion is helping neurodivergent individuals like you navigate and thrive in your professional life.
Challenges Faced by Neurodivergent Professionals
Many neurodivergent individuals, including ADHDers and autistic people, often live in a state of anxiety and fear. You might feel like everything could fall apart at any moment as you try to hold things together, or you may be dealing with the consequences of things falling apart.
When you first come to me, you might be in a state of anxiety or despair, focusing on just surviving the day. This often involves figuring out how to improve your career, relationships, or other areas of life. This survival mode is where many get stuck, believing their role is merely to manage and get through the day.
Here’s what I’ve seen:
- Constant Anxiety: The fear that everything could unravel at any moment.
- Survival Focus: Concentrating solely on getting through the day without major issues.
- Isolation: Feeling alone in your struggles, unsure of where to turn for help.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Understanding these challenges is the first step toward overcoming them and moving from merely surviving to truly thriving.
Research and Statistics
Burnout among neurodivergent professionals is a significant issue. According to recent studies, neurodivergent individuals are more likely to experience burnout due to unique workplace challenges and the constant effort to fit into neurotypical environments.
- High Incidence of Burnout Among Autistic Professionals: Research indicates a high incidence of burnout among autistic professionals, driven by unique workplace challenges and the effort to conform to neurotypical standards.
- Increased Workplace Stress Among Employees with ADHD: Employees with ADHD are significantly more likely to experience elevated levels of workplace stress compared to their neurotypical peers, which can lead to higher rates of burnout and mental health issues.
